What I needed to say v.1

The second I see you, I notice.
your beautiful face (sleeping) resting.
forever.
you’ll get your angel wings, you’ll go to where you belong.
even that still doesn’t help.
i’m frozen still.
but there’s not a thing in this world that could bring you back.
so I’ll send my prayers and wishes to god.
tell me if you get my message.
just in case, I have some things to tell you:
i loved how you always had toys kept hidden when me and my sister
came over.
how we would go outside and cut up pieces of fruit and feed it to
the birds.
the train you set up around the bottom of the Christmas tree.
i promise, we’ll still set it up this year.
when you sewed me a blanket for my 14th birthday.
the wooden chest box that you and my uncle built for me.
it sit’s at the end of my bed.
these are all memories kept in my heart, and now I’ve found
a place for you in there too.

Version 2-10 minute play.

MRS. LINDHOLM:
Okay students, so as you all know for this year’s play we decided to do something different. The main conflict is that a girl and a guy who come from two different lives start to fall for each other.
(Hand’s around the sign-up sheet)
CASEY:
(to her friend Bell) I know who I'm signing up for!
(She writes her name down under the lead character girl named Lexi.)
CALEB:
I'm gunna sign up for the lead character James.
(He hands the sheet back to Mrs. Lindholm after it's been passed around.)
MRS. LINDHOLM:
Auditions will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 in the auditor...
(The bell rings and students gather their things and head out the door)
CASEY:
So, Bell I'm getting sorta nervous for the auditions! I wonder who’s gunna get James role?!
BELL:
Ugh, Casey. You act like you don't already know that you won't for sure get the lead role. But anyway, don't worry you'll do fantastic!
CASEY:
Do you really think so?
BELL:
Course.
CASEY:
Ha..I hope your right. But anyway I'm gunna head to class. Meet in the same place after class?
BELL:
Okay.
(Casey and Bell walk away to get to class. The bell rings and some kids are running to get to their classrooms. They sit in class, and Casey is clearly not thinking about anything that her teacher is saying. All her attention is focused on who is gunner get the lead role. The bell rings, which brings Casey back to reality. It startles her at first, but she hurry’s and grabs her things and goes to meet Bell at their usual spot. As she is approaching her locker she sees that Bell is already standing their waiting for her.)
BELL:
Hey.
CASEY:
Hey, so I was wondering...are you gunna tag along to watch me audition tomorrow?
BELL:
Uhhhh... (Long pause) Yeah, Sure.
CASEY:
Ha okay? You’re acting weird.
BELL:
Am I?
CASEY:
Yeah, sort of.
BELL:
Oh. Well I'm just having an off day today. I'm going to get to class though so I'll meet you outside after school.
(She walks away before Casey can say anything. Fourth period goes by, which seems to be dragging on forever. Finally the bell rings and Bell dashes to her locker. Completely forgetting that she was supposed to meet Casey after school, she gets in her car and drives off. The next day at school, All Bell can think about is how she will break this to Casey. She decides to not let it get to her. She wants the role just as bad as Casey does. 3:30 roles around and Bell takes a deep breath and then walks into the auditorium. She sees Casey sitting in the audience.)
CASEY:
Where were you yesterday? I waited for you outside of the school but you never showed up.
BELL:
Oh, yeah...Sorry.
CASEY:
Ah, it’s no big deal. I'm just glad that your here to support me!
BELL:
(nervously laughs) Of course.
(Mrs.Lindholm tries to settle everyone down.)
MRS.LINDHOLM:
Okay. So as you all know, today are the auditions for this year’s play. I'll call up the characters, and who signed up for what.
(Bell quickly glances at Casey.)
MRS.LINDHOLM:
For the role of Lexi we have...: Jessica, Kelsey, Melanie, Casey, Jenna, and Bell.
& for the role of James we have: Ryan, Chris, Sean, and Caleb.
CASEY:
Bell, you auditioned?! And not just that, but you auditioned for MY role?
BELL:
Your role? Oh please.
CASEY:
Yeah, Bell. You knew how I felt about this the whole time. How nervous I was for auditions and everything. And the fact that you couldn’t even tell me that you auditioned. Honestly I have nothing more to say to you.
(Casey storms out of the auditorium, leaving bell standing there on stage feeling completely embarrassed. A couple weeks pass after auditions, and eventually Mrs. Lindholm posts the casting list on the door outside of the auditorium. A bunch of student’s crowd around the door, anxious to see who got what role. Bell looks at the casting sheet, and sees that under Lexi it says Bell. She’s so excited, but so frightened at the same time. Casey never even auditioned. The next day at school, Bell meets Casey at their usual spot after every class. Casey just grabs her things from her locker and walks away. Frustrated, Bell doesn’t know what to do. A few days pass and they still don't talk. Bell decides to ignore Casey just like she’s been doing to her. The next day after school, all of the students who got a role in the play meet in the auditorium. Mrs. Lindholm tells everyone to get in their starting spots.)
MRS.LINDHOLM:
Okay so, Lexi and James hit it!
(They get half way through the play when all of a sudden...)
BELL:
Mrs. Lindholm, I'm sorry but I can’t do this anymore.
(Everyone looks at each other in shock and confusement. Bell walks off the stage and outside of the auditorium. She is feeling guilty and like a horrible person for doing this to her best friend. The next day at school Bell meets Casey at their usual meeting spot. Bell tells Casey that she dropped out of the play.)

CASEY:
So..You dropped out of the play?
BELL:
Yeah. I did.
CASEY:
Why?!
BELL:
Because, when you found out that I auditioned and got the lead role you wouldn't even talk to me.
CASEY:
Ohhh boy. Bell you know how important this play is to everyone!
BELL:
I know but what am I supposed to do? I already dropped out.
CASEY:
Go back to Mrs. Lindholm and tell her that you want to be back in the play, duh!
BELL:
Okay. I'll go talk to her after school.
(Fourth period is over, and Bell is getting ready to head to the auditorium to talk to Mrs. Lindholm. She takes a deep breath and opens the auditorium doors.)
BELL:
Mrs. Lindholm, can I talk to you?
MRS. LINDHOLM:
Yeah, sure.
BELL:
So about the play…the only reason that I dropped out was because of my friend Casey. I knew that she wanted to have the lead role just as bad as I did. That’s why I dropped out. But I talked to her and she said that I shouldn’t have done that and that I should re join. I’m wondering if that is still a possibility.
MRS.LINDHOLM:
Oh, Bell. I wish that you could have told me this sooner. I just gave the part away yesterday. I’m, sorry it’s too late.
BELLL:
It’s okay. I understand. Thanks anyway.
(Bell walks down the stage stairs and heads for the door. She goes outside and sees Casey standing there waiting for her.)
CASEY:
So, what happened?!
BELL:
Ah, I didn’t get it. Somebody took the role yesterday.
CASEY:
Oh, well no big deal right? We’ll audition for next year’s play together!
BELL:
Yeah, no big deal. And okay for sure.
